Monthly cultural programmes provided the foundation for the Cape Cultural Collective. They were held in the Centre of Town, first at an Irish Pub, then at D6 Museum and Homecoming Centre and finally at the Slave Church.

They became more and more popular each year and people were drawn to a progressive cultural space to witness a range of poetry, music and dance performances. As the CCC grew and started a range of other projects, the cultural programmes took on new forms. In 2010, the CCC project managed four huge concerts to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the University of the Western Cape. From 2017, we hosted theatre productions until Covid put a halt to that. For a period we held online cultural programmes and in recent years we began doing a concert series and a poetry and jazz series.

The objectives of the Concerts include providing a platform for emerging and established artists, enriching the city’s cultural fabric, and fostering social cohesion. The four concerts held since June 2024 include – Concert for Palestine, Unbroken Spirits, Rhythms of Freedom, and Sisters Shining. The impact has been significant, contributing to artists’ professional sustainability, inspiring young attendees, and promoting community well-being.
