The Triple C Ensemble, a group of singers and musos from the Cape Cultural Collective, are receiving wonderful feedback for their performances on Expresso on Wednesday morning.
The seven singers and six band members delivered powerful renditions of Something Inside so Strong and Stand By Me, in English, Afrikaans and Xhosa. The musos played Midnight Blue, an original track that featured in the award winning short film Address Unknown. The film is about the last postman of District Six during forced removals.
The Triple C singers were Thami Baba, Aziza Davids, Lusinda Rolisisu, Candice Gurling, Despina Learnmonth, Chris Blaauw and Chadwin Nel.
Band members were Razak Johnson, Babes Ndamase, Bongani Nikelo, Mansoor Jaffer, Khangelani Twani and Mulalo Mphaphuli.
They arrived at the Expresso studios in Westlake at 5.30am from all across the Cape – Langa, Manenberg, Nyanga, Mitchells Plain, Wynberg, Lansdowne, Oranjezicht and Mandalay. The diversity of the team and the multicultural nature of the music reflect the Cape Cultural Values of building bridges and fostering creativity and development through the arts.
Clips of the music and photographs are available on both the Expresso and Cape Cultural Collective social media platforms.
