The sweet and mesmerising sounds of music filled the Novalis Hall in Wynberg at the weekend at the International Interfaith ‘Everyone Belongs’ Harmony Concert. The audience was treated to an incredible mixture of choral, acapella and opera presented by the Rosa and Fezeka choirs, the Gentlemen’s Ensemble and solo singers. The audience was spellbound by the beautiful voices of the choirs, the ensemble and opera singers Lilitha Kompela and Siphosethu Makalima.
The band members – Razak Johnston, Leslie Smith, Godfrey Dyantyi and Bradley Lodewyk – added to the energy of the evening. The groups were led by the amazing Monde Mdingi – whose stature as a director is rising across the country. The loadshedding may have added to the electric atmosphere as the performers did their thing in dim lights but with sound powered by a generator.
The concert was organised by the Interfaith International, in partnership with the Cape Cultural Collective, the Rosa Choir, Gate House, and the Novalis Ubuntu Institute.
