As the school holidays kicked off, the Strandfontein YMCA Rotary camp became the playground for young voices filled with enthusiasm, laughter, and an undying spirit. The annual holiday camp for the Rosa Junior Choir was nothing short of a remarkable adventure, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the collective efforts of many generous hearts. Today, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a part in making this camp an unforgettable experience for our young talents.

A Resounding Thank You

To all those who generously donated cash or in-kind contributions, you are the pillars of support that make moments like these possible. Your kindness is deeply appreciated, and we are grateful for your unwavering support.

Behind-the-Scenes Heroes

The success of this camp wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of the individuals who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. From shopping to organising, and ensuring every detail was in place, our gratitude goes out to the entire team that made it happen. Special mention to the Junior Choir project team and the organisers, Aziza, David, Vusumuzi, and Tersia for their outstanding efforts.

Memorable Highlights

The children reveled in countless moments that will undoubtedly become cherished memories. The swimming pool, their first activity upon arrival, remained a favourite throughout the camp. Afternoons were filled with soccer, games, and craft activities for those looking for a bit of tranquility.

Mealtimes became a special time of day, with hotdogs, burgers, and a delightful braai on the last night, accompanied by plenty of fresh fruit and snacks to keep energy levels high. As the children left the camp, they carried home goodie bags filled with snacks and treats, a sweet reminder of the wonderful time they had.

Educational and Enlightening

The camp wasn’t just about play; it was also an opportunity for learning and growth. A poetry workshop focused on critical issues like racism and stranger danger, captivating the children’s attention and inspiring budding writers and poets among them.

For the grand finale, the children presented a heartwarming concert to an audience of family, friends, and supporters. Divided into groups, each under the watchful guidance of a helper, they performed songs, dances, and short plays. These plays delved into important themes such as racism, stranger danger, and bullying. The young talents showcased their impressive skills, leaving everyone in awe.

Acts of Kindness

At the beginning of the camp, each child received a thoughtful gift of basic toiletries, a gesture of care that added warmth to their stay.

A Continuation of Growth

A few of the Rosa Choir’s youth members attended the camp, this time as helpers, bringing their experience full circle. We couldn’t be prouder of their commitment to giving back.

In conclusion, we want to extend our deepest appreciation to everyone who played a part in creating unforgettable memories for our Junior Choir. Your support and dedication are invaluable, and they continue to inspire the young voices that will shape the future. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our cause.
