Poetry Anthology
Cape Cultural Collective publishes Beyond Truth’s Edge, its second poetry anthology
Our second poetry anthology, Beyond Truth’s Edge, was published in December 2022, as part of the Cape Cultural Collective’s 15th anniversary.
It features the powerful work of 15 incredible South African poets, both legends and newcomers.
They are: Afeefa Omar, Chris Ferndale, Diana Ferrus, Khadija Heeger, Kyle Louw, Mbongeni Nomkonwana, Roche Kester, Siphokazi Jonas, James Matthews, Toni Stuart, Vusumuzi Mpofu, Vuyokazi Ngemntu, Winslow Schalkwyk, Zenariah Barends and the late Primrose Mrwebi.
This diverse group of poets write about the full range of human emotions and experience – life, love, disappointment, hope, aspirations, anger, pain and joy.
There are love poems, poems of memory, political poems, poems of joy and poems of longing and sadness.
Poetry heals, it disrupts, inspires and connects people – this anthology does all of those things and more.
Beyond Truths Edge has been endorsed by poet laureate Mongane Wally Serote, writers Zubeida Jaffer and Antjie Krog and playwright Mike van Graan.
This outpouring of these15 powerful poets lays bare the deep emotions that pulse through our veins reminding us of the stories that we carry in our hearts. They illustrate how strongly we continue to long for a just and fair South Africa that many have so tirelessly fought for.
Zubeida Jaffer – journalist, author, activist
A moving volume! Poems reanimating and celebrating how “just” we once dreamt about this “unjust” country. Let us listen and be moved anew… Antjie Krog
This is our second anthology. Our first, At Truth’s Edge, was published in 2011, featuring nine poets. Three of those poets; Chris, Zenariah and Khadija are featured in Beyond Truths Edge.
