Something Inside So Strong

Cape Cultural Collective launches music video
In an exciting development, the Cape Cultural Collective officially launched a music video at its Annual General Meeting on 25 October 2023.

The video features the Triple C Ensemble, a CCC project. The artists perform Something Inside so Strong in English, Xhosa and Afrikaans. The ensemble consists of eight singers and three band members.

The song, released by artist Labi Siffre in 1987, is both a response to the violence of apartheid and his own experiences as a young gay man.

The Cape Cultural Collective has produced three videos – music, poetry and dance – to celebrate our 16th anniversary.

The video was produced by Triple C Recordings, a project of the Cape Cultural Collective and recorded, filmed and edited by Real Art World (RAW) and its partners. Mansoor Jaffer was the Project Manager, assisted by Aziza Davids. The Ensemble Director is Monde Mdingi and the Musical Director Tersia Harley.

Singers: Monde Mdingi, Candice Gurling, Chris Blaauw, Despina Learnmonth, Chadwin Nel, Thami Baba, Vincent Voegt, Aziza Davids
Band: Tersia Harley – keys; Godfrey Dyantyi – bass guitar; Bradley Lodewyk – Drums

“This has been  a truly wonderful experience for us and our members as we participated in the studio work, the filming and the editing processes,” said Mansoor Jaffer.

“We are increasingly combining community development initiatives with high quality, professional efforts. The two are not mutually exclusive.”

“We are indebted to RAW, the singers, the band members and the CCC team for making this vision a reality.”

The CCC team asks that you please watch the video and share it far and wide. For optimal effect, use earphones or speakers.
