Cape Cultural Collective – Arts and Nature Group
A sunny beach day to remember!
On Sunday 24 November, 27 youth and a few adults joined us for a fun-filled Fish Hoek Walk and Picnic. The weather was perfect for exploring the beach, swimming, and learning about the environment.
Our group walked towards Kalk Bay, enjoyed the beautiful blue skies and water, and even spotted some interesting wildlife – though the sight of three dead seal pups reminded us of the importance of protecting our oceans.
We also saw the rehabilitation of the dunes and learned about the plants that thrive in salty sea soils.
The youth from the CCC and Likhwezi Arts Group had a blast, with some assisting the Rasta and Treknet Fishermen in catching Harders from the shore.
A huge shout-out to everyone who helped with the clean-up.
The day wrapped up with a final swim, a short walk, and some snacks to go! Thank you to the drivers who safely took everyone home.
We can’t wait for the educational programme at Kirstenbosch Gardens early next year.
