The Cape Cultural Collective started the year towards the end of January. The Board, elected at the AGM in December 2019, and the Steering Committee (operational team) began talking about the year ahead and the Rosa choir and junior choir resumed practices.
2020 will see a strong focus on our junior choir. Already the choir has doubled its size after we entered into a partnership with the Denis Goldberg House of Hope. The children will have their second annual choir this year, a camp at the end of year, a few excursions and will incorporate dance and drama in addition to their sweet singing voices.
All three CCC choirs – the two Rosa choirs and the Wesley Practicing School choir – are planning concerts for later in the year. Apart from the choir activities, we plan an Arts seminar and one or two theatre productions. Watch this space for more details.
We are starting a programme of music lessons this year for young people in our adult choir and will also strengthen our efforts at resource mobilisation so that we can become entirely self-sufficient by the year end.
Our programmes kick off with performances at the Philippi Horticultural Area on 8 March and an anti-racism workshop and cultural programme on human rights day in Elsies River. More details will follow.
We urge you to support the work of the CCC by attending programmes or even becoming a volunteer for a few hours a month.
We look forward to connect with you on our 2020 journey.
